Problem: Users click the 'View Output' button in Oracle but instead of downloading the output file, an empty Downloads window is displayed.


Uninstall Java 6:

1. In the Windows Start menu, type ‘Control Panel’ and click on the Control Panel menu option that appears:

 



2. Ensure that the ‘View by:’ option is set to ‘Small icons’ and click on ‘Programs and Features’:




3. Scroll down to Java and check that Java 6 is installed. Double click the Java 6 row and click ‘Yes’ when prompted to uninstall it:

4. If prompted, enter your Windows user name and password to proceed with the uninstallation

 

Install Java 8:

1. Navigate to the below folder on the network and copy the 'jre-8u341-windows-i586' executable file to your desktop:

\\dps.local\Group\DPS-plc\Group_IT\User_Install\Java_Update_Oracle\Java 8


2. Double click the executable file to initiate the installation.


3. Follow the steps when prompted to install Java 8.


4. After installation, in the Windows Start menu, type ‘Configure Java’ and click on the menu option that appears:



5. In the ‘General’ tab, click ‘Settings’:


6. Untick the ‘Keep temporary files on my computer’ option and click ‘OK’:



7.  Click on the Update tab, and uncheck the option for automatic updates.  Click Do not check  when prompted



8. Click the ‘Security’ tab and click on ‘Edit Site List’:


9. Click the ‘Add’ button and enter the below URLs as new rows.


    Note: If prompted with a Security Warning window after adding each URL, click ‘Continue’

10. Click ‘OK’ on the Exceptions Site List window


11. Click ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’ in the Java Control Panel Window.


12. Close all web browsers and open Oracle in Microsoft Edge.


13. After logging in and clicking an Oracle menu, the below window will appear.  Click the Later option.


      



14.  At the next prompt, tick the checkbox to accept the risk and click ‘Run’:




15. If the below Warning message appears, click ‘Run with the latest version’:



16. The Oracle form will load automatically.
