Receptionists have FrontDesk on their 8x8 Work application, installed on their PC.  This appears in he application because it is enabled through licensing.  Contact IT if you need the 8x8 reception software.


Receptionists are setup with a generic account which can be shared with others covering the reception desk.  The account is associated with a specific desk phone, so the receptionist sits at a PC next to the desk phone and logs in as the account associated with that phone.  This means that when the handset is picked up, the call is answered on the PC screen.

For Bar Hill, we have two accounts (2 desk phones).  At Liverpool we have one account (1 desk phone)


Logging in to the 8x8 Work application


When logging in to 8x8, the receptionist chooses the account associated with the desk-phone.

 

For Bar Hill

When facing the front door, the right phone username is DominoPrintingSciences.BarHillReception.Two

The left phone username is DominoPrintingSciences.BarHillReception.One


For Liverpool

The username is DominoPrintingSciences.LiverpoolReception.One


The receptionists have been given a password associated with these 8x8 accounts.



FrontDesk


In the 8x8 Work application the new icon for FrontDesk looks like this.


When a call comes in, it appears on the screen.



Picking up the handset answers the call.



When call answered, search in Directory and then hover cursor to the right hand side of the name to see the options to forward the call onwards.

Forwarding calls to external numbers

The receptionist may need to forward a call to a number which is not in the 8x8 system.  For example: a private mobile number or another Domino site's number.


When the call comes in and is answered, put it on hold.


the call box will change from green to yellow border.




Now open the keypad, enter the external number and press Call.





A new box appears next to the incoming call, with the details of the out-going call.


Press the transfer button to redirect the call to the external number.
