If you're having issues with large Excel files being slow to open or Excel not responding or even a black screen while it attempts to process the request, please check the following setting:
In Excel, click on File in the ribbon and select Options
Click on Advanced and scroll to the Display heading
Tick the option for Disable hardware graphics acceleration
Click OK to apply the change.
Close and relaunch Excel.
