The Domino M-Series USB driver is not electronically signed by Microsoft as from Win 10 and 11. Because of this issues occur when trying to connect to printers that prevent communication via USB. This is caused by the “Memory integrity” security feature that has been introduced and is enabled by default on all systems.
The Domino M-Series USB driver does not fulfill the requirement of signing from Microsoft and cannot be installed if this feature is enabled. Likewise, should you have installed the M-Series USB driver it will not be possible to enable this Windows security feature.
Because this is a security function on Domino pc's we will not be authorizing the disable of this feature.
Corrective action
USB connection is by recommendation not used as a method of communication in production but is a service interface used by technicians. Any user doing support on M-Series currently in the field can use any of the below suggested methods to communicate with the printer:
1. Communicate over RS-232 – normally a printer has at least one RS-232 port available. A contemporary PC normally does not have any RS-232 port, but a simple USB/RS-232 device can be used together with a NULL modem cable.
2. Communicate over Ethernet – might interfere with the connection a customer is using, as there can only be a single Ethernet connection to the printer at the time (despite there being three RJ-45 ports on the Ethernet board). Should the service technician require his normal Ethernet connection to be unaltered for communication with the outside, we recommend using an external USB/Ethernet adapter – an extra Ethernet connection which can have its own network configuration.
